Tests on Toys | Directive 2009/48/CE

To be able to affix the CE marking to a toy, in order to guarantee compliance with the essential health and safety requirements, Directive 2009/48/EC defines the obligations to be fulfilled during all phases of the product's life for manufacturers, authorised representatives and end users.

In order to verify the CE conformity of the toys produced, manufacturers are required to carry out testing activities through bodies authorized by the competent Ministry and notified by the European Community considered to have the essential requirements of Annex II of the Directive.

Toys without the CE marking may not be placed on the market.


Certification stages

Step 1: INITIAL EVALUATION

Examination of the technical documentation, containing the results of the calculations of the analyses and the results of the tests carried out in order to determine whether the requirements of the applicable standards have been met.

Step 2: LABORATORY & ON-SITE TEST

Carrying out any instrumental tests in the laboratory with reference to the applicable standards.

Verification of the compliance of the toy with the technical documentation and inspection of the production site.

At the end of the activities, the inspection report is expected to be issued.

Step 3: CERTIFICATION

The independent review and issue of the EC-type examination certificate.
